However, there will be a very entertaining look at the mathematics behind some very popular puzzles, curiosities, problems, and oddities. The mathematics called on will include elementary arithmetic, algebra, number theory, series manipulation, etc. The talk will be based on material from Martin Gardner (the most prolific writer on the subject), Walter Gibson (a fine magician as well as the author of "The Shadow" stories), Irving Adler, Geoffrey Mott-Smith, and William Simon. About the speaker: Sam has been an amateur magician since his grammar school days. He is currently a member of three large organizations for magicians. He has performed at the Bardavon, at the County Players theater in Wappingers Falls, and at the Kiwanis Club Variety shows at the Hopewell Reformed Church.
