Speaker: Dr. Owen Hill owenhill@verizon.net About the topic: Internet Chart Facility (ICF) is a Java Applet/Application which extracts tabular data and presents it in graphic form. The talk will briefly review ICF, with an emphasis on data, rather than programming techniques, and with the goal of understanding current and projected economic conditions. A question which often arises from this ICF-based capability is: "Can you predict future economic trends for Wall Street and Main Street?" The remainder of the presentation will address this question. In doing so, the speaker will summarize progress in several fields: Brain/Mind research Artificial Intelligence Probability/Statistics/Mathematics About the Speaker Dr. Hill's career has taken him from Bell Telephone Laboratories and Westinghouse Astroelectronics to International Business Machines and the State University of New York at New Paltz. He has held a wide range of positions in development, planning, strategy, and field support. He received the BS degree from Texas A and M, and the MS and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, all in electrical engineering. He has taught at UC Berkeley, Marist College, Brooklyn Polytechnic, Pace University, and SUNY New Paltz. Since retiring as Dean of Engineering and Business Administration at SUNY New Paltz, he has edited a book on Lean Six Sigma and advised several small start-up companies.
