About the Topic

The Hill Cipher is a matrix-based cipher from the 1920's. It was the first cipher to incorporate mathematical concepts, hence the first cipher of the mathematical era in cryptography. The Hill Cipher can be the basis for modern ciphers that are simpler, faster and more secure than the current Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

About the Speaker

Frank Rubin has an M.S. in mathematics, and a Ph.D. in computer science. He has been involved with computers for more than 60 years, and with cryptography for even longer. He is the owner of Master Software Corporation, which produces high-security encryption software. He is the author of the forthcoming book Unbreakable Cryptography.
