About the Topic

We are at the beginning of an energy transition away from highly polluting energy sources to cleaner and safer ones. Over the next 30 years, the world will transform in some expected — and some unexpected — ways. What does that look like for the average household, and at the community and larger scales? What technology exists today for this transition, and what hard problems remain to be solved? And what will be required for this to be successful?

Sean will present an overview of what we know about the clean energy transition. He’ll share his personal experiences electrifying his home, the benefits, and the things to look out for. He’ll also share some of what he’s learned about the policy landscape that will be required to complete the transition. Attendees will get both an overview of the whole landscape of clean energy, as well as concrete steps they can take in their own lives, and what ways they can accelerate the arrival of a clean energy future.

About the Speaker

Sean Dague is a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM, the founder of HV Open, an open source technology group in the Hudson Valley, and a volunteer with Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Over the past five years he's explored all the ways to make the clean energy transition at home, and helped numerous folks through parts of the transition themselves. He lives in the town of LaGrange in a home now heated with a geothermal heat pump.
